What's going on with all these images on social media captioned with an ALL CAPS HEADLINE on a black background, sometimes with an alleged news source logo between them? Are they from a newly trending tool or format, or are they mass produced by some kind of AI botnet?
What happened
The only "social media" I use (in the broadest sense of the word) is Reddit and personal instant messaging services. In the past month or so I've started seeing these images on Reddit or shared on IM groups by friends or acquaintances, always with the same general format: ${PHOTO} ————${OPTIONAL_LOGO_OR_NAME}———— ${ALL_CAPS_HEADLINE} The photos may or may not be AI-generated, the (optional) names and logos are from sources I've never heard of, and the text is almost always in all caps and a mix
