Prime Video India Unveils Huge Slate & Targets Global Viewers With Local Originals: “English Is No Longer The Default Language Of Choice For Storytelling”
Prime Video India unveiled 54 new series and movies at its Mumbai showcase, spanning Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages. The streaming giant declared that "English is no longer the default language of choice for storytelling" as it targets global viewers with local Indian content. The slate features major Bollywood stars including Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt.
Local language content is the future of global storytelling, with English no longer being the default choice. Indian regional content has massive global appeal and can compete internationally when given proper investment and platform support.
While local content investment is smart for the Indian market, declaring English "no longer default" may be premature given its continued dominance globally. The real test will be whether these regional productions actually find significant audiences outside India.
