Whataboutism

Definition

A deflection tactic where someone responds to criticism by pointing to someone else's wrongdoing instead of addressing the original issue. The drama equivalent of 'yeah but what about...' Used constantly in political and corporate drama.

Example

'Our data breach is bad, but what about [competitor]?' Classic whataboutism.
