Streisand Effect
Definition
When an attempt to hide, censor, or suppress information backfires spectacularly, drawing far more attention to it than it would have received otherwise. Named after Barbra Streisand's failed 2003 lawsuit to suppress photos of her Malibu home.
Example
The takedown notice they sent just triggered the Streisand Effect. Now ten times more people have seen the leaked documents.
