Non-Apology

Definition

A statement designed to look like an apology without actually accepting responsibility. Classic forms include 'I'm sorry you feel that way,' 'mistakes were made,' and 'I apologize if anyone was offended.' Non-apologies almost always make things worse.

Example

'We're sorry for any confusion this may have caused' is peak non-apology energy.
